PSYCHOTHERAPY
I believe that a psychotherapist is like a companion in difficult periods of life, who can help to face its challenges in the most helpful and compassionate ways.
The companionship may depend on the journey that is taken. Sometimes a psychotherapist is more like a kind coach, who provides scientifically proven tools and knowledge to overcome the problem at hand and enable action. Other times a psychotherapist is more like a companion in a longer journey, who helps to discover and meet person's core needs or understand the inner processes that get in a way to fulfilling life and meaningful relationships with oneself and others. One way or the other, the journey should be actively taken by both sides, thus personal commitment to oneself is essential.
I build my psychotherapy practice on the three main pillars:
-
Evidence-based psychotherapeutic methods and ethical principles.
-
Strong therapeutic relationship as one of the essential elements to successful psychotherapy.
-
The practice that is driven by personal values, such as responsibility, kindness and acceptance towards oneself and others, as well as the importance of human connection, constant learning, and equivalence.
There is no psychotherapy to avoid life, which was not meant to be easy anyways. Yet, the process of psychotherapy can help us tame its challenges, teach us new skills, and allow us to find inner resources to accept what cannot be changed.
